A windy golden hour maternity session in East Wenatchee

It’s not that often that a couple decides to go along with a mountain top session in hurricane winds (I mean, basically), but I’m so glad they did! As an East Wenatchee maternity photographer, I’m stinking grateful that I have clients who still want a certain spot, despite the wind, because it will have the perfect light! Thanks so much to Carlie & Mason for taking this trek up the mountain with me and capturing the most gorgeous golden hour I’ve seen in a while. We caught the last bit of Balsamroot before it dwindled away for the season.

Perks of the job

In all honesty, I think the best thing about my job is the human connection. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love getting people to have fun or get cozy in front my camera. I love editing and making colors and expressions pop! But my favorite part is getting to reconnect with people I went to school with; to watch them fall in love and have kids. I get to watch my friends’ lives unfold and capture the most beautiful and memorable moments and that in itself, makes my job worth doing.

That’s the case with Carlie. I think we were friends for a hot second in school (isn’t that how most school-age friendships go?) and then we went different directions. I’ve seen little blippets of her life on social media and was so excited when she reached out to me about her maternity session. Carlie is literally one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and it’s so heart-warming to watch her go through the amazing transition from wife to momma with the man she adores. And I feel terrible for just now getting around to blogging this East Wenatchee maternity session, but I guess now is as good a time as ever since I get to photograph their in-home newborn session this weekend! Eeek!

 

I’m a sucker for overlooks and this East Wenatchee session did not disappoint!
